College Life Lately

Started from the bottom now…….. we’re seniors??

August 30, 2014

I remember being in the eighth grade and thinking that I was the big man on campus. And now eight years later, I’ve somehow found myself in the same situation now that I’m officially a senior. Classes at Wake started this past Tuesday and I moved into my apartment last weekend, which is so crazy because it feels like I just moved in for my freshman year.

These are a few of my favorite things

August 20, 2014

About 80 years ago, my grandparents bought a cottage on Lake Erie in a secluded little wood. Nowadays we have plenty of neighbors and the town has grown up around our summer home away from home. We used to spend six weeks every summer up in Dunkirk until I went away to college; now I’m lucky if I get to spend a few days up there. This year I spent an entire week at Summerthur (the nickname for our cottage), while intermittently traveling to D.C. and New York City. While the weather was a bit unpredictable, we had more sunny days than rainy ones which allowed us to enjoy all of our favorite summer activities.

As you may have guessed from the title, this entire post is dedicated to my favorite things about Lake Erie as well as my favorite things to do during the summer!

Our humble abode, Summerthur.

New York City Travel USA

NYC

August 17, 2014

Straight from my wonderful weekend in D.C., I flew up to one of my favorite places in the world–New York City. I was only in the city for 2.5 days to visit my grandparents who have both lived their entire lives in Queens. I come from a long line of New Yorkers (a possible explanation for my distrust of strangers?), and my dad is actually one of the only members of the Lang family who have left the city.
