#TBT // A Weekend in Edinburgh, Part 2

December 4, 2014

Our second day in Edinburgh was much more relaxed than our first. And by that, I mean that we hung out at The Elephant House for about three hours journaling and reading for our Literature classes. Does anyone know which author first began to write her magical book series in The Elephant House?? [Hint: the main character’s name rhymes with Larry Hotter!]

Our first stop after leaving our hostel that morning was the Palace of Holyroodhouse, which is the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland (aka Queen Elizabeth I, who I saw earlier this summer!). The palace is located at the end of the Royal Mile opposite Edinburgh Castle and is situated right next to Arthur’s Seat.

Life is a Journey: My Top 5 Moments from this Week

November 30, 2014

I’ve been doing a lot of driving this past week but I’m finally bunked back into my normal spot in the library back at school. While the drive home and back is long (~5.5 hours), I’ve always enjoyed roadtrips and at each destination I always have loved ones waiting for me to arrive. Since leaving for college, I’ve realized just how big my ‘family’ has gotten over the past 21 years and I’m truly thankful for my actual family and my friends who continually support me when I’m at my happiest, when I’m at my lowest, and everything in between. What I’m not super pumped for, however, is how much work I have due for university in the next two weeks. But, again, I’ve realized that I have to take a step back sometimes and remember just how blessed I am to be able to attend such a wonderful university and continue my education, when so few people in the world have the same opportunity.

#TBT // A Weekend in Edinburgh, Part 1

November 27, 2014

While studying abroad in London last year, a few friends and I made a trip up to Edinburgh, Scotland for the weekend. We hadn’t done much research about what to do ahead of time (which is totally uncharacteristic for me since I’m usually very on top of things while traveling), so we didn’t really have any idea what was in store for us that lovely weekend. One thing that I really enjoyed was that although Edinburgh is a big city, it had a much more laid-back feeling which was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of three months in London.

College Food Restaurants

The Porch

November 19, 2014

A couple weeks ago, two friends and I decided to get dinner at a restaurant that opened in Winston last year, The Porch. While I’d heard that the food was amazing, I didn’t realize how popular The Porch actually was until it took us forever to find parking on a Thursday night.

Cathedral of Learning

November 17, 2014

On my last day in Pittsburgh, my dad and I headed over to the University of Pittsburgh’s campus to take in the fall leaves and the sunshine. I was also looking for any excuse to break out my brand new parka from Banana Republic, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Walking down Walnut Street

November 12, 2014

While we were up in Pittsburgh this past weekend, I decided to check one of my mom’s old haunts for myself–Walnut Street. Located in the Shadyside neighborhood, Walnut Street actually reminds me a lot of King Street in Charleston what with the abundant number of stores and restaurants lining the road.
