On Sunday morning I woke up at 7am because I was planning to go to the Louvre first thing in the morning and figured that I should get there before it opened at 9am. I grabbed breakfast at the hotel (it was free!) before heading out for the day.
Because I took so many pictures this weekend, I’ve decided to split my stay in Paris into two blog posts!
On Saturday morning I woke up to my alarm at 6:15am and was out the door thirty miniutes later. My train wasn’t actually scheduled to leave until 8:03am but I’ve heard that the St. Pancras station gets pretty hectic, especially the international part, so I decided it was better to be safe than sorry so I got there early.
On Tuesday a few friends and I went to what I consider to be one of the most unique restaurants in London—Bubbledogs. Located just a short walk from the Goodge Street station, the restaurant is actually quite easy to miss apart from the red neon sign that reads the name. I had gone once last fall but I can’t remember for the life of me what I ordered, so it was basically like starting from scratch. The premise of the dining experience is simple; there is an array of gourmet hot dogs (made of pork, beef or vegetarian) and along with your meal you can also order a glass of champagne, hence the name bubble + dog.
Last Friday we had a pretty easy day at the Institute; all we had planned for the day was visiting Sotheby’s ‘Modern & Post-War British Art’ auction preview in the morning. I enjoyed this sale much more than the Russian Art preview we visited the week before but unfortunately the auction itself, which we watched later this week, was not very successful despite the various big names within the sale. I did end up buying a sale catalogue as a souvenir though!
After our tour, I decided to walk around the area to better acquaint myself and ended up stumbling upon Green Park which I had no idea was anywhere nearby. I grabbed food from a takeaway place and had a nice little picnic in the park, eating while I read my sales catalogue.
Last Thursday, we met up in front of the Institute for our drive down to southern England, Chichester to be specific. We all piled into a coach bus and made the (never-ending) two hour journey south. Chichester is actually quite cute and reminded me a lot of the quiet streets of Bath, England, which I visited last fall with the Worrell House.
