Have you ever fell in love with something and felt like you’d never find anything like it ever again? That’s how I felt after eating what I thought was the end-all of baked brie while in London two years ago. Brie on its own is delicious. Baking brie so that the cheese is all gooey and melts in your mouth is nothing less than heavenly. So I was somewhat in mourning over the fact that I’d never find another baked brie like it ever again… And boy, was I wrong!
6th & Vine is one of my new favorite finds in the Arts District of Winston-Salem. I’d heard rave reviews of the food and drinks but I didn’t try it for myself until earlier this past spring. The menu’s varied and the specials are always delicious sounding and I’m pretty sure that they source their ingredients locally.
My favorite drink served at 6th & Vine is their sangria, which is made with red wine and pomegranate juice. I really like it because it’s not overly sweet, while at the same time it doesn’t have an overpowering taste of alcohol so it’s enjoyable to sip on throughout dinner. And when you have tons of gossip to discuss over your meal, you need a good drink to accompany.
The last time we went, my boyfriend was shocked that I was just getting cheese for my dinner. I wasn’t too hard on him though since he’s never actually had baked brie before but… Yeah duh I was going to eat all of it by myself! I’m not even lying when I say that the baked brie at 6th & Vine is the absolute best I’ve ever had in my whole entire life. The boy even agreed after tasting a little bit. I also love that they give fresh cut fruit to eat with the brie and the raspberry jam + cracker combo is to die for. I’m drooling just thinking about it. Just look how ooey gooey the cheese is at it melts out of the phyllo dough shell. SO GOOD.
Promise me that if y’all are ever in Winston-Salem that you’r’ stop by 6th & Vine for their baked brie and sangria. Meanwhile I’m going to be researching for a recipe to make on my own!
