One of the major perks of being involved in Greek life is having date functions throughout the year. Last Friday my sorority hosted our 50’s themed function, Rock Around the Clock, at a banquet hall on campus. Although dancing is always tons of fun, the best part for me is getting to see some of my closest friends and all hang out with them and our dates. As my friends can testify to, I like to think of myself as a bit of a social butterfly so I made sure to say hello to everyone and take photos with my friends.
Two other friends and I looked for inspiration from the classic film Grease for our outfits and settled on dressing as the Pink Ladies. I even curled my hair for the function, which may not seem like a big deal but I’m usually lazy when it comes to doing my hair. But I put aside my au-naturel tendencies and dressed up to the nines (or should I say fifty-nines) with my friends.
Our favorite ADPi groupie (aka my best friend since day 1 at Wake) came to hang out with us for a little while, which she loved because it meant that she got to hang out with the frisbee boys alone while the rest of us got ready.
We moved our party to another dorm on campus where we proceeded to take even more pictures and chit chat until it was time to head over to the actual event.
The date function, per usual, was tons of fun, especially with everyone dressed up. There were quite a few Minnie and Mickey Mouses wandering around!
My lovely (partial) fam jam! My face is practically glowing in this picture, one of the many reasons I have a love-hate relationship with flash. Life is hard when you’re pale enough to look like a ghost in pictures.
And while I tried to pose and look cute in the pictures…
You know behind the scenes I was more like this all night!
