College Life Lately

Sunny (studious) Sundays

September 23, 2014

I have to admit that I’ve been a pretty boring undergrad this weekend. I have a few papers and midterms coming up in the next couple of weeks, so my weekend involved long days in the library and early nights in bed. I had woken up early on Sunday to set up for the Homecoming Brunch that my sorority hosted, and since I was already up I decided that I had some time to workout before the studying commenced once again.

There were blue skies for miles so instead of doing the elliptical or stair stepper, I did stadium runs instead. The first six rounds were great and I was feeling pretty smug good about myself. I took a short break though when the track team also started doing stadium runs because they were all super fit. And because I’m a super awkward person I pretended like I was getting very important text messages that I had to respond to ASAP (total lie). It all really went downhill from there and I spent the next four rounds wishing that I was doing anything other than running up and down the bleachers, mostly sleeping in or perhaps watching Bones on Netflix. But I finished and was proud of myself as I tottered away to finish my workout.

Rainy days are here to stay

July 10, 2014

This won’t be a very long post since I didn’t really do anything that exciting on Saturday and Sunday, mostly just catching up on sleep, spending time outside and hanging out at Tate Modern.

Saturday morning I took the tube to St. Paul’s and from there walked across Millennium Bridge towards Tate Modern, where the Matisse cut-out exhibition is being held until mid-September. The exhibition is very popular and because of this I had a 1.5 hour wait before I could queue up to enter the space. And what is a girl to do during lunch time on the South Bank? I bet my dad can tell you…  Borough Market, of course! I was excited to try the pies from Pieminster, which I had heard and read are amazing, so I jumped in line and ordered their ‘Lighter than a Feta’ pie. Honestly I was let down because, although I liked the chunks of sweet potato and feta, I didn’t like the pie crust that much and I was a huge fan of the crumble on the top of the pie. Not wanting my visit to Borough Market to go to waste I stopped by my favorite pastry stand to get a spelt almond croissant, which had been my favorite since I first tried one for the first time last fall.
