I love puppy chow but it’s definitely a dangerous snack.
Dangerous in the fact that it’s so delicious that you could easily eat all of it in one sitting without thinking twice! Which is what Matt and I almost did on Saturday, although we were somehow able to tear ourselves away from the bowl and save some for the next day.
As I’ve said before, I’m not a fan of chocolate (I’m weird, I know!!) so instead of chocolate chips, I like to use white chocolate chips when I make my puppy chow. Which is how it’s gotten it’s nickname–“Snowy Puppy Chow”–since I use white instead of milk chocolate.
This recipe makes 4 servings, although you can easily double the recipe to make 8 servings if you’re cooking for more people and/or have better control over your sweet tooth than I do!
1/2 box Chex cereal
Half package of white chocolate chips
1/4 cup of smooth peanut butter
1/2 stick of unsalted butter
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup powdered sugar
In a large mixing bowl, add the white chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter all together. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir.
Cook in the microwave for another 30 seconds.
Add the vanilla essence.
Pour the Chex cereal into the liquid mixture and stir together until coated.
Pour the mixture into a large ziplock bag (or into a large tupperware container if, like me, you realize last minute that you don’t have a large ziplock bag haha), and add the powdered sugar. Shake until well coated.
Once I’m finished making the puppy chow, I like to throw the mixture into the fridge for an hour before diving into it. You can definitely eat it immediately though if you can’t wait!
