My Favorite Quick Workout & PB Energy Bites

June 24, 2016

I’ve been pretty good about going to the gym lately. After spending two weeks hiking through Peru and pushing myself to keep going even when I thought that I couldn’t take another step, I’ve been feeling particularly inspired to stay in shape and not revert back to my days of spending hours on the couch watching Netflix.

So I was feeling pretty good about myself until I read an article about how Blake Lively spent 13 hours in the gym everyday to get in shape for her newest movie. THIRTEEN HOURS. No wonder she’s such a babe! Unfortunately, I have to spend a majority of my day sitting in my cubicle so I can’t dedicate as much time to fitness. Which means I have to get creative on days when I can’t make it to the gym for my normal weight lifting/cardio class.

While traveling or on days when I go running and want to add a quick bodyweight workout, here are my favorite moves that get me huffing and puffing. Repeat twice:

  • 50 squats
  • 30 seconds holding squat
  • 30 walking lunges
  • 2 minutes high knees
  • 40 sumo squats
  • 1 minute jumping jacks
  • 50 bicycles
  • 15 full sit-ups
  • 1 minute leg raises
  • 1 minute plank
  • 1 minute side plank (30 seconds on each side)
  • 50 calf raise
  • 10 burpees

And one of my favorite post-workout recipes, my Peanut Butter Energy Bites, are great because they’re easy to make ahead of time and because they taste amazing to boot!

INGREDIENTS

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/4 cups white chocolate chips (I don’t like chocolate so I usually switch normal chocolate for white)

1/3 cup honey

1 tsp honey

DIRECTIONS

Mix together in a bowl. Form into balls and place on a baking sheet. Freeze for a minimum of 1 hour and they’ll be ready to eat!

What’s your favorite post-workout snack?

  • I love peanut butter energy bites. I usually add dessicated cocconut and cacao butter. I can’t eat chocolate because its too sugary, but I use raw dark chocolate, have you tried that? I guess my favourite post-workout snack would be an almond-pea protein shake. Happy weekend. /Madison

BL is gorgeous but I don't know if it would be possible to work out for 13 hours per day ha,ha! I'd be physically dead if that was the case! An hour or two is enough for me and that's a good 3 or 4 times a week if possible xx
