Small Goals for this Week

June 20, 2016

Happy Monday!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend and spoiled their dad’s for Father’s Day! I spent most of the weekend either catching up on sleep (I accidentally slept almost 12 hours on Friday night… oops) or spending time outside and enjoying the nice weather up north. After two weeks of absolutely gorgeous weather in Peru, I was somewhat shocked that Connecticut was also sunny and so I’ve been soaking up lots of vitamin D and going for runs on the trails near my apartment.

But now that it’s Monday morning and it’s already time for another work week (why do the weekends always go so quickly??!), I’ve made a little list of things to do this week that I hope will make for an amazing first full week back at work! In other news, I’ve finally started editing my photos from Peru and Machu Picchu and I’m really loving how they came out (please disregard my sweatiness after an hour of hiking haha).

  1. Steps. Steps. Steps. Getting 10,000 steps a day may seem like too much of a drag after a long day at work, but COME ON GIRL! Go to the gym and then for a short cool-down lap on the trails and before you know it, your FitBit will be buzzing and you’ll feel 100% better about yourself. Because you really can’t brag about 5,000 steps, now can you?
  2. Catch up on journaling. I’ve been religiously keeping a ‘One Line a Day’ journal for the past three years, which I would absolutely recommend for anyone who likes to have a diary without the time commitment of having a diary, but with all of my traveling (and sleeping) lately I’ve fallen behind. So one of my goals for this week is to sit down with a nice glass of Cabernet and crank out my memories!
  3. Finish reading the newest Bachelorette autobiography installment. As I’ve said before, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are my favorite guilty pleasures, so when Andi Dorfman’s book about her breakup came out my friend and I ran out to the bookstore to get it. But to be completely honest, I’m ready to move on (just like Andi was ready to move on from Josh), and so I’d like to finish the book in the next few days. What books are y’all reading right now?
  4. Namaste. Get back into the routine of meditating before bed every night and then practicing a quick yoga routine in the morning. My sleep cycles have been super funky lately and I’d like to get those back to normal at some point this week. No more tossing and turning!

Do you guys have any small goals that you want to accomplish this week? Also, totally unrelated to this, but do you guys have any favorite vloggers? I watched a few this past weekend and I absolutely getting a sneak peak into other bloggers lives!

One small goal I’d love to accomplish this week is to take a walk everyday! So looking forward to your Peru and Machu Picchu posts!

    Renee | Life After Lux

    • That’s such an awesome goal! I was just reading an article that said that the average person only takes 3,000-5,000 steps a day, which makes sense since we’re all so busy, but I can’t imagine that it’s good for your body!

  • These are great goals, before I went on summer break I put the goal of walking 15,000 steps a day. This seemed like a lot but after one day of walking around campus and not taking the bus I checked my activity tracker and had 21,000 !! Also meditating is very good, I’ve haven’t done it in about a year and must get to it soon!

    Have a nice day xx

    • That’s an awesome goal!! I usually average about 12k per day but I’d love to get as many steps as you do!

  • hubby got me a fitbit a few months ago and it really helped me get to my steps goal! Even if I don’t hit the goal daily it reminds me every hour that I need to move!

    • I absolutely love my FitBit!! Being able to track my steps is great because I can see results in real-time and because I can check to see how my friends are doing too haha

  • Whitney

I really need to get a fitbit to get moving. I don’t think I am even doing close to 10k! Such a pretty picture!!

    • Having a FitBit is so good for me because I definitely need the motivation. I actually feel guilty at the end of he day if I haven’t hit my 10k goal!

  • Happy Monday, beauty! I think it’s awesome that you got 12hrs of sleep on Friday, your body needed it after all that traveling! Funny thing is, with me, the more I sleep, the more I feel tired…so weird! I love the idea of a journal and have started so many times, but I can never be consistent, no matter how much I try! I feel like I have so much to write and then my hands just hurt, haha. I don’t like the idea of typing it because I feel like it’s not the same. I have to try again because whenever I do have the time to look back at my older entires, I’m amazed at how much I’ve matured emotionally and mentally, so it’s a great way to not only document amazing moments, but to see how you’ve grown and evolved throughout the years. I head to the gym at 6:30 am Mon-Fri and I can’t say I love it, not until I’m actually there training. I’m not a morning person by nature, so it’s definitely a sacrifice and I have to really push myself, so I can totally relate to you! Thanks so much for sharing your week’s goals with us. As for vloggers, I usually watch Nicole Guerriero, Carli Bybel, and Camila Coelho 🙂 I hope you have a great week ahead, beauty!

    • I’m the same exact way when it comes to going to the gym. I always try to some up with excuses to get out of it but then I always end up loving the classes that I go to! And journaling is definitely time-consuming, which is why I cheat and just do my 1 Line a Day journal haha

  • Leslie

Happy Monday! Sounds like some great things to get accomplished! I try really hard to get in 10,000 steps as well! Sometimes I seem to fall short, but do my best! I have tried so hard to get back into a really good routine, but the summer months have proven to be difficult.

    http://www.lesleyandeve.com

    • I really have to push myself some days to hit 10k steps! It’s hard when I’m sitting at my desk basically all day!

  • Wow, I can’t wait to see your photos from Peru and Machu Picchu! I think I need to get a Fitbit or a pedometer of something to motivate me to get moving, especially after a long day in the office. Happy Monday from Wales, Courthey! 🙂 Angharad x

    • Getting enough steps on a work day can be so tough sometimes! My Fitbit definitely helps motivate me though!

  • WhatWouldVWear

This is such a great post, and I love the picture of you, C! I need to do more togo too! I think mediating in general is super important and I hear you about working out! Lately I’ve been so tired in the mornings (perhaps being a mom just poops you out) which resulted in zero excersise but your post inspires me!

    Happy Monday, love!

    • My life is still pretty easy since I live by myself, so I don’t really have an excuse not to accomplish all of my little goals haha. That would just be lazy of me…

  • Wow your trip seems amazing Courtney! I cannot wait to see more pictures. I hope you enjoyed your weekend!

    • Thanks! I’ve loved looking over all of my photos from my trip!

    • Writing down my weekly goals is so helpful because then I have a physical reminder of what I want to get done that week!

  • That photo is amazing, and these are great goals! I haven’t set myself any, but I think it’s a great idea to break them down into ‘small’ goals! Good luck with yours 🙂

    • Small goals are definitely good for me because I tend to get a little overwhelmed if I have too much to get done in one day/week!

  • I love this, I feel the same way about getting my workouts in! When I hit a yoga class in the morning it always makes such a difference!

    xoxo http://www.touchofcurl.com

    • Yoga is definitely my favorite way to begin the day! It’s just so relaxing and I always feel more in tune with myself and the rest of the universe after yoga!

  • Unless I hit the gym, it’s TOUGH to get 10K steps! Or tougher than you think. But so true- when I hit the mark, I feel so much better about myself. 🙂

    • I totally agree!! Having a desk job definitely doesn’t help me get my steps in haha

  • Erica White

This is such a great list! I can’t wait to see more of your photos from your trip!! xx

  • I love reading and am reading The School of Greatness right now! Its such a great book! xo C http://www.courtneyvioletbentley.com

    • Thanks for the recommendation!

  • I love this post…I need to step up my journaling and, ironically, step count. Not to mention get my sleep cycles in check. Basically this is the list I SHOULD have made for myself at the beginning of the week. I hope it has been a good one for you so far!

    • Haha getting enough steps everyday can be such a pain sometimes! And I’m still a little behind on my journaling for the past week so I’ll have to get that done today!

  • Thank you for motivating me to do more steps! I had one line day, but never really was into it. My blog is kind of a diary as I write almost every day though x

    • I definitely see my blog as a kind of journal too!

  • Ianne Cabangon

Amazing pictures. I have been wanting to go there.

    • I’m a big fan of writing down my goals for the week so that I have a physical reminder!

  • Love these goals. I totally feel you on every.single.one of them. Seriously. This is pretty much what my weekly goals look like, though I’m trying to finish up a semi-boring book that I just need to finish already! I hope you met your goals this week!

    — Dara // http://www.peoniesandhoneybees.com

    • I love reading but it’s the worst when you start and book and have to push yourself to finish it!

  • Anaivilo Borsa

Oh Machu Picchu sounds amazing!! I wish I could go there soon 🙂

    http://thewonderfashion.blogspot.com

    • Machu Picchu was unbelievably gorgeous!!

  • I LOVE the idea of setting small goals for each week! I am such a big picture person that I forget that its okay to focus on the little things – and I love the idea of setting manageable week-by-week goals instead of just yearly goals (which I do in excess haha)

    Thanks for the inspiration <3
