Autumn is such a magical time of year. The leaves are changing, the temperature is slowly dropping, and I finally have an excuse to add pumpkin to everything I eat.
Another favorite part of this time of year for me is that with the changing seasons, it seems as if fashion becomes edgier and more creative. During the summer I basically live in bikinis, sun dresses and flip flops, so you could say that my everyday wardrobe is borderline basic. But in the autumn, I get to pack all of that away and essentially recreate myself for the next few months. This usually means switching up lipstick colors, getting my hair cut and, of course, shopping for killer new outfits. And now that I’m working at my first job out of university, I find myself looking for pieces that can transition easily from the office to cocktails after work.
So when I was contacted by Farfetch a few weeks ago to style an outfit using just one piece from the womenswear section and the rest from the menswear, I was beyond excited for the challenge.
Alexander McQueen Shirt | Stella McCartney ‘Lindsey’ Skirt | Louis Leeman Embellished Slippers | Maison Margiela Paint Splatter Clutch | Thom Browne Half Rim Sunglasses
Y’all girl power is real. Women are seriously kicking ass and taking names in the corporate world all around the world. So who’s to say that we can’t start appropriating mens’ clothing more often into our wardrobes as well?! And autumn seems to be the perfect opportunity to start doing so now that everyone’s bundling up anyway!
I centered my outfit the most badass Stella McCartney skirt that caught my eye the minute I got onto Farfetch’s site. And with autumn upon us, Alexander McQueen’s embellished collar shirt is the perfect top for a blustery day, as well as being the key to being a low-key trendsetter. Sometimes a little bling can go a long way! Plus I’ve always been a fan of the chic look that can easily be achieved from tucking a top into a pencil skirt.
And can we just take a moment and gush about how fabulous these embellished loafers are?? As much as I love wearing heels, which is kind of a necessity when you’re dating someone who’s over a foot taller than you, you just can’t beat the idea of slipping into a pair of fabulous yet comfy flats for work.
And we can’t forget about the accessories! Do y’all ever feel slightly naked if you go into public without jewelry or a cute purse? I totally do (unless I’m at the gym, of course), and so when I was styling what I’m going to call my “Badass Woman CEO Uniform,” I knew that I had to find a statement clutch and some killer sunglasses.
Do y’all have a favorite fall trend you’re dying to try this autumn? If you’re looking for style inspiration or are just looking to update your wardrobe, definitely head over to Farfetch and see what’s waiting for you!
