Life is a Journey: My Top 5 Moments from this Week

November 30, 2014

I’ve been doing a lot of driving this past week but I’m finally bunked back into my normal spot in the library back at school. While the drive home and back is long (~5.5 hours), I’ve always enjoyed roadtrips and at each destination I always have loved ones waiting for me to arrive. Since leaving for college, I’ve realized just how big my ‘family’ has gotten over the past 21 years and I’m truly thankful for my actual family and my friends who continually support me when I’m at my happiest, when I’m at my lowest, and everything in between. What I’m not super pumped for, however, is how much work I have due for university in the next two weeks. But, again, I’ve realized that I have to take a step back sometimes and remember just how blessed I am to be able to attend such a wonderful university and continue my education, when so few people in the world have the same opportunity.

I’m taking advantage of Thanksgiving to start a new tradition of looking back on the previous week and picking five of my most favorite moments. Over the summer I took on the #100happydays Instagram challenge, and it really opened my eyes to how awesome the little things in life can be if we can find time to sit back and look around us.

My Top 5 Moments:

1. Being home and taking advantage of the beach at every given opportunity. Although it’s too cold to go swimming (especially for us Floridians!), walking on the beach with our dogs has become a tradition in our household. The dogs love it because they can swim and make friends with the crabs scurrying across the sand, and we love it because it gives us an opportunity to enjoy nature and talk with one another

2. My mom was up in Pittsburgh on Friday and she brought us back a box of macaroons. Yum!

3. I always love Thanksgiving break because it means that I receive dozens of Snapchats from my friends of A) their pets and B) their parents drunkenly yelling at the football game after one too many at Thanksgiving dinner. Seriously, about 96% of the Snapchats I’ve received over the six days have been only that and the pictures/videos have been hysterical.

3. I finally got around to getting my hair cut again! I only got an inch taken off and the hair stylist cut some layers, but my hair definitely feels lighter and the split-ends are all gone. Yay!

5. I bought the new Taylor Swift album the other day and I’m in love with every single song. I don’t think that I’ve ever listened to an entire album without skipping certain songs, which is amazing. If I had to pick one song though, I think that my favorite track is “Style.” I know that I’m late to the ‘1989’ but better late than never… right??

What were the best parts of y’all’s week? xx
